2021.10.26 07:48 SirGeremiah Mod for 1.17 requesting 0.17.2 of fabric
I'm not used to Fabric, so might be missing something simple. I'm also not sure where this issue belongs, but figured folks here would at least understand what's going on.
I have Xaero's Minimap and Xaero's World Map for my 1.17.1 world. I've installed the latest version of Fabric loader (0.12) in MultiMC. When I try to launch, the Fabric loader reports that "Xaero's Minimap requires 'version 0.17.2 or later' of Fabric, which is missing." I tried (at the suggestion of MultiMC folks) installing the latest Fabric API, but nothing changed. I don't see a 0.17 Fabric API for MC 1.17.
Anyone have suggestions?

2021.10.26 07:48 nagboi What books and video lectures would you recommend for beginning multivariate analysis, ODE?
I am currently in my 2nd year of undergraduate math course at college. We have ODE and analysis in more than one variable. I have been finding it rather confusing, as to which book would be not tangent to my understanding, and neither will it be too basic for non-math students to undertand.
I have picked up "Calculus on Manifolds" by Spivak for the multivariate part. Mostly because, I got very great feedback from almost everyone. I have just started reading it yet and seems kinda okayish. But I'm still open to suggestions.
I have also taken up "Ordinary Differential Equations" by Arnol'd for ODE. Initially I had chosen Ross's "Differential Equations", but my brother and some other seniors made me understand that Ross is too application based. On the contrary, Arnol'd is more rigour. Though I have no clue. I'd still accept some suggestions.
Also, if anyone could link me to some free video lectures on these two topics, would be greatly helpful. Thank you.

2021.10.26 07:48 yeet3ms Armour and its importance to the plot | An essay /rp
The DreamSMP plot is more complicated than most TV shows these days; all the different plotlines that all somehow tie into each other can be quite hard to follow for somebody who tuned in late. The amount of characters alone can be overwhelming for some. Yet, to understand the bigger picture, sometimes all one has to do is look to one of the elements of the story that is often overlooked: The props. Because the story does not take place on a conventional set or stage, the props used are slightly different than those used in most mainstream media. Within the DreamSMP storyline, the props used are things like armour and weapons; from Technoblade’s Axe Of Peace to Nightmare, Dream’s personal armourset, the use of these tools heavily impact the way the story plays out. The use of armour and weapons throughout the DreamSMP is important to the plot, because it sets up key plot factors, it reflects the power dynamics, and is a sign of the relationship dynamics within the plot.
From very early on in the story, armour is proven to be a very important factor to the plot. During the founding of L’manberg, it was decided by Wilbur that within the walls of L’manberg, nobody was to wear armour. His reasoning was that they would solve conflict with words alone, the European way. This comes back a few times throughout the story, most notably during three separate occasions. The first one, is during one of the first days of the nation, where Wilbur and Tommy butt heads over the no armour policy, with Tommy disagreeing with the rule. While on its own it could be seen as just some senseless bickering, which is not out of place for either character, when looked at through the lens of the bigger picture, it’s the first sign that Tommy and Wilbur have conflicting ideas of what is best for L’manberg. While it is not a key factor to the Revolution arc itself, during the Pogtopia arc these conflicting ideas start coming up more and more, slowly causing the two to drift apart. Another instance of this armour rule driving the plot is during the Red Festival, thrown as a ploy to capture Dream. In a fleeting conversation during one of the minigames at the festival, Quackity points out that Ranboo is wearing armour, while the nation still upholds the no armour policy. This confrontation, while just as brief as the one explained before, further builds the tension between Quackity and Ranboo that had been growing for weeks at that point. It serves as the breaking point; Quackity later that same day suggesting they execute Ranboo after he is revealed to be the traitor. Again, the no armour policy serves to build the plot up, to make the climax all the more satisfying. While the third use of the rule is a lot more subtle, it is still worth mentioning; During the Exile arc, Dream decides that Tommy is not allowed to have any armour or weapons, routinely visiting him to take away any items he might have gathered. This directly parallels the no armour rule in L’manberg, except this time Tommy doesn’t get to decide whether he wants to honour it or not. Back in L’manberg, he in the end decided to follow the rules on his own accord, if with minimal persuasion from Wilbur. During the Exile arc, the rule is forced upon him, something he cannot avoid. It is an interesting parallel, one not often mentioned, but one certainly worth analysing. In all three cases, the rule surrounding armour leads to important plot factors, and while these are just examples of one specific instance that the use of armour is important to the plot, there are many more instances where armour pushes the plot forwards, or halts it.
The idea that props are only there to serve the plot, isn’t entirely correct though. They also serve as a direct show of the power dynamic taking place within the plot. One of the most obvious uses of this concept throughout the entirety of the DreamSMP storyline is during the Butcher Army arc. After the forming of the New L’manbergian Cabinet, consisting of Tubbo, Quackity, Fundy and Ranboo, it is decided that Technoblade is a threat to the already fragile nation. This notion that Technoblade is a danger is not a new one, though this is the first time he has been actively hunted over this fear. One of the reasons he is as feared as he is, is his resourcefulness. He was the one to gather gear for the entirety of the Pogtopian army, he is the one who went out and got wither skulls to use against L’manberg the second they reinstated the government. From the first minute Technoblade joined the server, he was built up to be a beacon of raw power, of something unstoppable, and he lives up to this reputation for a good chunk of the Pogtopia versus L’manberg arc. The first time this idea of Technoblade being all-powerful is challenged, is after the Butcher Army succeeds in both capturing him and stealing his gear. The power dynamic shifts. Suddenly, Technoblade is not as powerful anymore, stripped of the items that gave him this power. These items, coincidentally, were both his armour and his weapons. They were used against him as leverage, held over his head to taunt him over the fact that he was no longer the most powerful man on the server. The missing armour shifted the power dynamic; it drove Technoblade to be even more merciless towards L’manberg; it drove the Butcher Army to grow cocky, thinking they had out bested the Blood God. Whoever holds the best armour, holds the power. Whoever has the strongest weapons, gets to call the shots.
Not only do armour and weapons reflect on who is powerful and who isn’t, it also tells a lot about the relationships between characters within the plot. There are a few memorable instances where the giving of armour is seen as a sign of trust; one that instantly springs to mind is Technoblade giving Tommy a turtle helmet to wear after Tommy escapes his exile. The helmet, while maybe not being the strongest pieces of armour, has a clear meaning; it’s been given to Tommy to make him feel safe, a reminder that he is free of Dream’s rules. He can now wear all the armour he wants, and while he does not often wear armour during this arc, the helmet is the one thing he does wear. Even on the rare occasions he does wear netherite, he still replaces the purple helmet with the green shell. It’s more than just a piece of armour, it’s a sign that he is under Technoblade’s protection, physical proof Dream is not in control anymore. Tommy wears it because he trusts Technoblade to keep him safe. He is seen wearing it all the way up until the argument between him and Tubbo, where he decides to side with L’manberg against Dream and Technoblade. The second his relationship with Technoblade falters, he stops wearing the helmet. This immediate switch directly displays the change in their relationship dynamic; Tommy no longer trusts Technoblade, so he gets rid of the physical reminder of the trust he once had in the man. Another instance of items, in particular weapons, directly translating to the relationships between characters, is shortly after Doomsday, when Ranboo gifts Technoblade with a new axe. The idea behind the gift is that it was supposed to be a replacement for the Axe Of Peace, an ace Technoblade let Tommy use during his time with him. After they went their separate ways, Technoblade let Tommy keep the axe, a sign that while they had differing opinions, the man still held some kind of positive idea towards Tommy; he could have easily demanded back the axe, but instead he made a point of telling Tommy to keep it. The loss of his axe left the Blood God a bit irritated, and in an attempt to thank Technoblade for allowing Ranboo to stay in the Arctic after Doomsday, Ranboo made him a new axe. While Technoblade pretended not to care about the gift, he was later shown to appreciate it, renaming it and using it quite frequently. This gift is a representation of the offer of friendship that Ranboo had been trying to give for quite a while at that point. While this wasn’t the first time Ranboo openly tried to be friendly towards Technoblade, it is one of the first that is actually shown to be effective. From that point on, their relationship considerably improved, the two of them becoming friends pretty quickly. The axe, while a simple gift at a first glance, signifies a turning point in their relationship. There are countless other occasions where the use of weapons and armour directly tell us, the audience, something about the relationship dynamic between certain characters, whether it be some big change or just an affirmation of something already having been hinted at.
To put it shortly, the use of armour and weapons within the lore of the DreamSMP is a lot more complex than one might think at a first glance. Thinking of them as just props with no meaning, while an easy mistake to make, takes away some of the very interesting concepts the story is trying to convey with said props. From parallels that are often overlooked to showing us just who is in power and who is friends with whom, it is worth taking a closer look at what armour and weapons are shown to see the story on a new, deeper level. Maybe it is not always intentional or pre-written, but it still serves as an interesting look at how the DreamSMP works as a story, how a simple axe or a plain chestplate can lead the plot down an entirely new route. In other works, from literary works to plays and movies, props are often over analysed to the point where the conclusions sometimes feel a bit far fetched. While avoiding making any wild jumps in the theory crafting process just to link in a certain prop is definitely preferable, it certainly couldn’t hurt to have an extra close look at what armour or weapons are involved in the arc of the DreamSMP one is theorising about.
(just an essay I wrote to practise for an upcoming literature exam, thank you for your time <3)

2021.10.26 07:48 Positive_Possible312 Clown
I’ve been having a lot of weird dreams lately. In this one, a female clown was trying to offer to use some sort of magic on me make me one of them (I think to make me immortal but I’m not sure if it exactly said that). The clown wouldn’t leave me alone even tho I told it to go away and she was kinda creeping me out a little although it was otherwise a pretty non threatening looking clown.
